Phil Lavrischeff will be leading this study based on the book "Not a Fan" by Kyle Idleman.  Below is a synopsis on the details of the book:

Jesus is NOT looking for fans…

He’s looking for followers.

Followers who understand that…

There is no forgiveness without repentance. There is no salvation without surrender.

There is no life without death.

There is no believing without following.

Twenty times in the New Testament, Jesus Christ issued a compelling and challenging invitation: “Follow Me.” Jesus is not interested in mere fans. He doesn't want enthusiastic admirers. He wants completely committed followers. Built around the engaging approach of Kyle Idleman, Teaching Pastor at Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, KY, this one of a kind small group study examines what it means to deny one’s self and truly follow Jesus.

This is not a conventional small group experience. It is a cinematic journey, a series of six mini-movies, with the perspective and depth to help shape today’s believer into a first century Christ-follower. Participants follow the journey of Eric Nelson, a man leading a compartmentalized triple life as a pleasure-seeking rebel, a cutthroat corporate executive, and a nominal Christian. But when confronted with a near death experience, Eric embarks on a spiritual journey that transforms his commitment to Jesus Christ and tests the faith of his friends and family.

Frequently asked questions

Q. Do I have to know the Bible to be eligible to attend?

A. No! There will be some who have spent many years in studying the Bible, and some who have barely even opened. But we all have a ton to learn from opening it together.

Q. What will our meetings be like?

A. This will likely vary, depending on what we’re all looking for and how the Spirit leads us. But generally there will be some kind of teaching, and some discussion, and it will be informal and interactive.

Q. Is this just for older men?

A. No, at Generations we believe that older men can learn from younger and vice versa. God works in His church as all generations grow together.

Q. I’m not used to meetings like this. What is expected of me?

A. We simply want you to turn up. You can be an active participant, or as quite as a church mouse. You won’t be expected to read or pray aloud if you don’t want to, or to join in the conversation, or even do homework. But of course, the more you put into it, the more you will get out.

Q. Who will be leading?

A. The Holy Spirit, through men who feel called to teach or lead discussions. This will vary over time, and each “leader” will bring their own style and background to the table, and the rest of us will bring our contributions.

Q. Do I have to be a member of Generations Church?

A. No, this is open to anyone who wants to grow as a follower of Jesus Christ.
